Emulsion Breaking

An emulsion is a mixture of two or more liquids that are normally immiscible (non-mixable).  Emulsions can be formed intentionally or naturally as a result of the constituents found in the liquid medium. In the production of oil, water in oil and oil in water emulsions can form and need to be broken. That way the water can be recycled, equipment reliability is preserved, and the sales oil can be sold without penalty.
